Sunshine Spiced Turmeric milk
Warm, sweet, spiced milk! The perfect cosy drink for winter days and summer evenings or if your like me you will be drinking it almost everyday, no matter the season!
The bright colour of this milk and Ayurvedic spices are very uplifting! This sunshine milk has even cured headaches for me a few times.
Recipe makes large two servings
1 tsp of grounded turmeric,
1/2 tsp of grounded cinnamon,
1/2 - 1 tsp of ginger,
Optional 1/4 tsp of grounded cardamom,
1/4 - 1/2 tsp of freshly grounded pepper,
Pinch of salt,
Optional - 1 serving of reshi, chaga or lions mane mushrooms,
1 & 1/2 cups of warmed milk of choice ( I used coconut milk ),
1 cup of distilled hot or lukewarm water,
1 - 2 tsp of honey ( or use any other sweetener of choice to taste),
There are two ways to make this recipe.
First: Place all the spices in a low heated pan, heat and stir for 3-4 minutes, until they are slightly warmed. You can also add a 1tsp of coconut oil to the pan whilst heating the spices, though it’s optional.
Then add the spices, milk, water and sweeter to a handheld blender or food processor, and blend for 2-3 minutes until frothy and the ingredients are combined.
*If you don’t have a food processor add the liquid and other ingredients to the pan with the heated spices, serve when warmed completely and enjoy.
Second: Heat your milk, and then add all the ingredients to a handheld blender or food processor, blend for 3-4 minutes until combined. Then enjoy.
Try this recipe hot or cold, even add ice cubes for an iced version!
I hope you enjoy this recipe and make sure to tag me if you make it!
